Highly talented Dentists at Mickleham Dental offer general dentistry services to the residents of Sunbury, Greenvale and Gladstone Park. We are dedicated to providing reasonably priced comprehensive dental care so that you and your family members of ALL age groups achieve a healthy and lively smile.
Here are just a few of the services we provide:
Comprehensive examination and consultation
Comprehensive Oral examination can prevent the need for major dental work in the future. This is more pleasant and cost effective for you, rather than allowing problems to go on undetected, requiring more extensive treatment. Initial comprehensive oral examination includes (Comprehensive Oral Examination, Bitewing X-rays (to check for problems between the teeth), concentrated fluoride treatment and photos using our intraoral camera. At the end of this appointment the Dentist will provide you with a quotation of any further treatment that may be required. This will give you the opportunity to choose the best options for you. All these associated services are often subsidised or provided with “no-gap” to members of private health insurance funds who have extras or ancillary cover.
Clean and desensitisation
It is recommended to every patient to have a professional dental clean every six months. The buildup of plaque that has been missed by daily brushing can calcify, becoming hard and impossible to remove with a toothbrush. A professional clean done by a qualified dentist will remove this calcification (tartar) and can prevent the development of gum disease and cavities.
Dental Care for Children
Life is full of smiles and it is never too early to get into the healthy habit of six-monthly dental visits. Children as young as three years of age benefit from visits to the dentist for a regular Check-Up and Clean as they learn early how to increase their chances of achieving lifelong dental health. Familiarisation with Dental staff and the Dental environment from a young age is also an effective way of reducing anxiety and fear.
We offer Comprehensive Oral Examination, Scale, Polishing (if needed), and application of Fluoride “no gaps” to members of private health insurance funds who have extras or ancillary cover.
At Mickleham dental we are an amalgam free practice so we use only tooth coloured fillings. Also know as Composite Resin Fillings, they are dental fillings that restore and mimic the natural appearance of tooth structure. In addition to restoring teeth that have fractured or decayed, tooth coloured fillings may also be used cosmetically to change the size, colour and shape of teeth. This quality is particularly useful in closing gaps between teeth; repairing chipped teeth and making teeth appear to be more straight or even.
Treatment of Gum Disease (Periodontitis)
Are you suffering from bleeding gums, bad breathe or painful gum? You are not alone, you may have periodontal (gum) disease. Periodontal diseases range from simple gum inflammation to serious disease that results in major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. In the worst cases, teeth are lost.
Whether your gum disease is stopped, slowed, or gets worse depends a great deal on how well you care for your teeth and gums every day, from this point forward.
The treatment for gum disease can be classified into two stages:
Stage 1: professional teeth cleaning by a Dentist or a Dental Hygienist which will remove the calcified plaque called calculus (tartar) and stubborn stains.
Stage 2: Maintenance at home. This includes, a few simple procedures including correct brushing twice a day and flossing between the teeth. Some other helpful products may also be prescribed by the dentist.
Root canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. If the pulp becomes infected, the infection may spread through the root canal system of the tooth. Symptoms can range from a dull ache to severe pain and the tooth may be tender when you bite.
You may not feel any pain in the early stages of the infection. In some cases, your tooth could darken in colour, which may mean that the nerve of the tooth has died (or is dying). This would need root canal treatment.
Dentures are an option for the replacement of missing or lost teeth and can assist you to feel more confident when smiling and allow you to eat a wide range of foods. Full or Partial Dentures that we offer at Mickleham Dental include:
• Acrylic (plastic)
• Chrome Cobalt (metal)

Crown and Bridge
Crowns are needed when a tooth has been severely weakened and is no longer structurally sound, for example; a root canal treated tooth, heavily filled tooth or a fractured tooth. This procedure can also be used as a cosmetic modality to improve your smile by covering a stained or chipped front teeth. Porcelain crowns are custom-made for each individual patient and can be matched to existing teeth
A bridge is a fixed prosthesis used to replace a missing tooth or several teeth, by joining an artificial tooth permanently to adjacent teeth.
All our porcelain work is fabricated in quality Australian laboratories
At Mickleham Dental we fabricate customised sports mouthguards in-house. Customised mouthguards are safer and a better fit which can reduce trauma to the teeth and the risk of concussion
